InĀ 1971 Mr. Jerry Morrone won first place in Kata at the Michigan State Open Karate Championships.
In 1973 He won the Michigan State Amature Athletic Union (A.A.U.) Championship in Fighting. He also won numerous kata championships in various local tournaments.
In 1995 he then received an Instructors Certificate from James Morrone and Koji Oshima J.S.K.A.
Mr. Morrone has also taught Shotokan Karate in Southfield, West Bloomfield, and currently in the City of Troy Michigan.
Mr. Morrone was a Wayne County Deputy Sheriff of 31 years and is retired now. During his employment, he restructured the Sheriff Department's defensive tactics program and taught in the Academy for nearly 10 years. He was also a P.P.C.T. Instructor, (Pressure Point Control Tactics) for the Dept.
In 1981 He was on the Defensive Tactics Advisory Committee for M.L.E.O.T.C. (Michigan Law Enforcement Training Council) and helped standardize the defensive tactics program for all law enforcement officers in the State of Michigan.
He has also taught shorter versions of defensive tactics to other police departments and assisted in self defense programs put on for the public at the central dojo.
On April 29TH 2003, Mr. Morrone's rank of 5TH Dan was certified by (Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, Chairman, Higashi Fushimi Jigo). This is Japan's premier martial arts society. It is a prestigious organization promoting vigorous training of the Martial Ways, Research, Education, and service.
